The Bank of New South Wales, Linton Branch, moved to this site from its former site at 90 Sussex St (now Traquair House) in 1904. Prior to this, the site had been occupied by James Colliver, a machinist and wheelwright, from the early 1860s until 1902, when Colliver’s business was sold to Oscar Ball, blacksmith and wheelwright.
In the first photo you can see workers of J C Colliver around 1895. The second photo is an early picture of the bank around 1904.
The Bank celebrated a centenary of banking in Linton in 1960 but closed in 1993. Since then the building has been a private residence.
