The barber and the midwife lived on this street, where almost every house was home to a wandering musician.
There was a cow in the village named Lotte who sometimes kicked wildly and hurt one or two people. But then the Baader was called, and he was very calm: he treated wounds, pulled teeth when someone had toothache, and also liked to cut hair – a real all-rounder.
His wife was the midwife and helped with many births in the village.
She was patient, gentle, and had a cheerful smile that encouraged even the shy cows.
Lotte liked her especially because the midwife would occasionally bring her a portion of hay to calm her down when the village folk were excited again.
