When the wandering musicians set out into the world, they first had to travel from Eßweiler to the nearest train station.
This station is still located in Wolfstein today.
The fastest way to get there at that time was the so-called Musikantenweg (Musicians’ Path) – a trail that led over the Königsberg to Wolfstein.
The wandering musicians packed their instruments and overseas trunks and set off on foot with handcarts over the mountain to catch the train in Wolfstein. From there, they traveled throughout Europe playing music. Some even made their way via European ports to distant continents to earn their living there.
