In 1873, a silver spoon was found in the church meadow, here above on the hill, which is described in the Speyer museum catalog as a spoon “ornamented with birds, grapes, and foliage.”
The spoon is dedicated to a person named Luciliane. It is believed to be a baptismal spoon that was given as a gift in the 4th century AD.
In 1907, Dr. Gruenewald described the spoon as “the oldest monument of Christian art found in the Palatinate to date.”
