The Reykjanes peninsula is located just outside the capital Reykjavík and the volcanic eruption at Fagradalsfjall in March 2021 has made the area world famous in a spectacular way. On a day trip you can explore not only lava caves, craters and fissures in the earth. Iceland’s history is also present with old fishing sites, churches and a Viking museum. For hikers there are some nice tours. A highlight is certainly the view from the mountain Keilir.
