Happy Trails

If you look carefully you will see different equipment called tack. Different bridles and saddles are used for different disciplines. The heavy saddle with a horn in front and bigger stirrups is a western saddle and the lighter one with finer stirrups is an English saddle. Some riders here also ride bareback.

When you see a horse on the trail remember they are flight animals and can spook so it’s good to be calm and approach gently and quietly. Most riders and horses will be happy to say hello to the many people who use the trail system. Some of the trails are designated for horses only. Others are shared by joggers, walkers and cyclists all out enjoying this little bit of nature.

I hope you enjoyed meeting Cappy and if you see me on the trail say hello. You can now let your friends know that unicorns do indeed exist in Burnaby. If you are a horse fanatic, check out the website and consider supporting this unique rural location in the city limits. We also have ample free manure available for gardeners! Keep your eyes open for our special events that are open to the public such as Christmas with the Horses. Happy Trails to you!
