The Calwer Passage has been a popular promenade in the heart of Stuttgart for over 40 years.
In 2022, the ensemble received a modern update: a new seven-story office building with a comprehensive greening concept, designed by the architectural firms ingenhoven associates and Tennigkeit Fehrle Architekten, was opened.
The building integrates the historic, glass-covered passage, giving the historic ensemble a fresh and contemporary look.
With its 133-meter-long green façade, which houses residential units and commercial spaces on the ground floor, the glazed office complex sets a benchmark for a greener future in Stuttgart.
In the interim (from 2014 to 2018), the “old” (former) passage was used as a pop-up mall, hosting various independent shops, studios, cafés, and bars under one roof. The idea was to provide a platform for young businesses, creative projects, and predominantly sustainability-oriented initiatives to experiment and grow.
