f you need to register your dog or get a new ID card, this is the right place. The town hall is also responsible for countless other tasks.
The town hall is the administrative center of our community. It’s where the town council meets. You’ll often find government offices here, also called departments. The mayor’s office is in the Lilienthal town hall, and if you’re lucky, you might get to meet him.
The year 1232 is when Lilienthal was first mentioned. The town itself didn’t exist yet. Back then, a monastery was built near a small settlement. It’s not exactly clear where the monastery, run by nuns and with a wooden church, was located. Some believe it stood where the Klosterkirche (Monastery Church) is today, which you can see to your right.
Do you see the Lilienthal coat of arms on the town hall facade? It’s just to the left of the entrance. The nuns’ monastery used the image of Mary with the child and lilies as its symbol. It still appears in Lilienthal’s coat of arms today.
Let’s walk toward the fountain. From there, you’ll have a great view of the Klosterkirche.
