Since 1968, “Kröpeliner Straße” has been a pedestrian zone and Rostock’s main shopping street. Many older buildings are under monumental protection and some of them still have medieval foundation walls or cellar vaults, such as the Hopfenkeller on the Hopfenmarkt or the House of Ratschow with the city library.
The shopping arcade “Galerie Rostocker Hof” in the direct vicinity of the University Sqaure. It was taken over by the people of Rostock in 1995 and houses shopping facilities, restaurants, snack bars, a café and a hotel under a glass dome.
This is where our tour ends. We hope you had an entertaining and exciting tour through the city centre of Rostock. You can learn many more entertaining anecdotes and of course historical background about the Hanseatic city of Rostock on one of our public city tours. We will be happy to give you advise about all our attractive offers in Rostock and Warnemünde.
We thank you and wish you a pleasant stay in the beautiful Hanseatic and university city of Rostock.
