Large parts of Rostock’s city fortifications are still preserved today. In the 2nd half of the 13th century, the city wall, gates, towers, weigh houses and ramparts were built. The longest section of the city wall is 450 metres and stretches southwest of the Gothic Kröpelin Gate to Schwaansche Straße.
