So Celebrities isn’t really somewhere that I would say that I enjoy going. I’m not a very outgoing person in public. I’m kind of more of a private person. I like to enjoy my alone time, but there’s a lot of fond memories of Celebrities. From when I was younger. Younger, I say that like, I’m old now. I remember starting to watch RuPaul’s Drag Race when I was 18, when the first season came out and I just fell in love with it. I thought it was something that I wanted to do. And I just, I don’t know, there was something inside of me, like the creative theater kid who liked doing makeup and hair always thought that maybe the drag would be fun. So I saw a poster for Vancouver’s Next Drag Superstar. And the judge was Alyssa Edwards and I knew I was like, you know what, I’m going to join this competition and I’m going to make it to the end, just so I can meet Alyssa Edwards.

And my mom had recently been diagnosed with an illness that had her in the hospital in and out, and barely made it through. And on the other side, I said, “Hey, do you want to help me with a drag competition now that you’re right out of the hospital?” That gave her something to look forward to, and that gave us a good bonding time together. And each week we went and she helped me. And every week I did better and better. And then the fourth week I won. I won Vancouver’s Next Drag Superstar in 2014. And even though I’ve stopped doing drag and kind of reverted back into my introverted self, every time I walk, uh, walk here past Celebrities, it’s a really nice memory. It’s a nice memory of when my mom and I basically made art together. I kept thinking during that time, if she were to pass away after this, this would be like the one memory you really remember. Or one really bonding memory of my mom and I just trying our best. And we won and we got a free trip to Vegas. So thanks Celebrities!
