As of 2024, Longyearbyen boasts two Nursery Schools, with a third one closed due to avalanche risk. No children are born on Svalbard due to medical constraints, but many return with newborns after medical clearance.
“No Photos” signs protect children’s privacy, as visitors often forget boundaries, especially during summer. Respect for locals’ privacy, especially children, is strongly urged.
